What a repair cannot fix

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Movement in the bath or tray

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Bath resealing at your home in Belan

A reseal is a small job that makes a big difference. Clean, white joints make a bathroom look cared for, and they keep water out. We work on kitchen worktops & sinks, basins & vanity units and wet rooms, and common reasons people get in touch are water getting behind the bath or tray and black mould in the sealant.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months in Belan and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Repairs by material

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

How to look after the repair

It’s all simple stuff:

  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers

Good ventilation is the best protection, and dry the joints after bathing so mould struggles to take hold.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

When to call us in Belan

In time, even good sealant discolours, especially in a busy family bathroom. Steam, soap and movement all take their toll.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Stained silicone
  • Unsealed corners
  • Mould you can’t clean out
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray

Questions to ask before booking

  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • How your room will be protected
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • How soon you can use it again

Choosing a repair company

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

What bath resealing costs

You will know the full cost before booking. We look at:

  • The material and finish
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How easy the damage is to reach

We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Belan. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Quotes from your photos

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what helps:

  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Something in shot to show the size

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed price the same day in most cases.

What we do, step by step

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we are there. We protect the area first, then the job itself takes a couple of hours. At the end we talk you through the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Advice

Is resealing worth it?

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
