Bath resealing in Bennett End

How we handle bath resealing in Bennett End

Baths, trays, basins and kitchen worktops all get resealed. Most jobs take a couple of hours, then it needs to cure. Our repair technicians work on wet rooms, baths and kitchen worktops & sinks, and people most frequently call us about missing sealant behind the taps and a messy previous reseal.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we will come back.

Do you need bath resealing in Bennett End?

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the silicone, so cleaning only removes the surface.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Leaks at the edges
  • An untidy old seal
  • Old sealant that looks dirty

  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers

Bennett End: your questions answered

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Can pets and children be at home?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children.

My seal keeps tearing. Why?

Something is moving. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

We always remove the old sealant completely. Fresh silicone does not stick to old.

Prices and what affects them

We charge the same across the UK, including Bennett End. The price reflects:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How easy the damage is to reach

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Send photos for a quote

Phone pictures are fine. Just ensure we can see:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Any details about the material
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote. There’s no charge for the quote and no obligation.

How to care for the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Open a window after bathing
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Reseal when black spots will not clean off
  • Keep the joints dry

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, normally about a day.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

What a repair can’t fix

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

Why reseal now?

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

Why book with us

  • No need to remove anything
  • Normally one visit, start to finish
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK

DIY kit or professional repair?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

How the visit works

We begin by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. Allow a couple of hours, and we will tell you if anything changes.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
