Bath resealing at your home in Blackwaterfoot

Preparation is everything in a reseal: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Only then does the new sealant go on, in a neat, continuous bead. We are frequently asked to fix discoloured, yellow sealant and leaks at the edges, on baths, shower trays & enclosures and wet rooms.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

FAQs for Blackwaterfoot

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged before the end of a tenancy.

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Usually poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

My seal keeps tearing. Why?

Movement is the usual cause, or it was sealed with the bath empty. We fill the bath before sealing it.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Can you quote from photos?

Nearly always. If pictures do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

The process

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for around two hours from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Is resealing worth it?

Resealing is a small job. Putting off a reseal lets water get behind the bath or tray, which costs far more to put right. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why book with us

  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

Work for landlords and builders

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Common problems we fix in Blackwaterfoot

Sealant splits when the bath or tray moves, often because it was sealed with the bath empty.

Most people contact us when they notice one of these:

  • Damp near the bath
  • Black mould in the sealant
  • Gaps by the taps
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles

What to look for in a quote

  • How soon you can use it again
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT

10 questions to ask before you book

Looking after it afterwards

To keep it looking its best:

  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Air the room after use
  • Use the extractor fan

Good ventilation is the best protection, and dry the joints after bathing so mould struggles to take hold.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. There may be more going on, so we’ll tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

Repairs by material

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

What a repair can’t fix

A repair isn’t right for every job, including:

  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.
