Bath resealing near Bowling

How we handle bath resealing in Bowling

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint opens fully, which stops the new seal tearing the first time the bath is used. Common call-outs are for missing sealant behind the taps and mould you can’t clean out, across baths, kitchen worktops & sinks and wet rooms.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, so the joint is at its widest.

Questions from Bowling

How long does silicone take to cure?

You will get the curing time from us.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

Never over old. It’s removed, cleaned off and the joint dried first.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

How long does resealing take?

Most reseals take about two hours. Leave it to cure before use.

Why it’s worth resealing in Bowling

Resealing is routine maintenance. Putting off a reseal lets water get behind the bath or tray, which costs far more to put right. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

Why book with us

  • One visit for most repairs
  • Work done at your home or business
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Nothing taken out or refitted

How we price bath resealing

There is no charge for travel to Bowling. The price comes down to:

  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The material
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • The type of damage

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Quotes from your pictures

Two or three clear photos are normally enough. It helps if you send:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

You do not need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

How the visit works

Here’s how a visit usually runs: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and tidy away. Plan for a couple of hours. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price. Quotes are free and no obligation.

Advice

Keeping it looking good

To keep it looking its best:

  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Keep the joints dry
  • Give the seal a regular clean

Run the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. There may be more going on, so we’ll tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Bowling

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, photos and access details and we’ll arrange it.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

When a repair is not the answer

We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Movement in the bath or tray

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.
