What we cannot put right

Not everything can be repaired, and we’ll tell you before we start. Repairs will not solve:

  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

About our bath resealing in Brain's Green

Preparation is everything in a reseal: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Then the fresh sealant goes on, as one neat, continuous bead. Whether it’s discoloured, yellow sealant and mould you can’t clean out, we can typically put it right, on basins & vanity units, kitchen worktops & sinks and baths alike.

You’re covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Keeping it looking good

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Open a window after bathing
  • Dry the seal after bathing

Use the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

What bath resealing costs

We do not charge extra for travel to Brain's Green. The price depends on:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How much damage there is
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

How to get a fixed quote

Two or three clear photos are normally enough. It helps if you send:

  • A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Natural light rather than flash

There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Why reseal now?

A professional reseal costs little compared with water damage. It’s a quick job that protects your walls and floors. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing typically costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

What we do, step by step

Here’s how a visit normally runs: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Allow around two hours. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and how to look after it.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Preparing for the visit

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

What we are called out for in Brain's Green

Most reseals are because of black mould. It grows into the silicone, so cleaning cannot get it all out.

The things clients normally mention when they call include:

  • Black spots in the silicone
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • Silicone smeared on tiles
  • Gaps by the taps

What your quote should include

  • How changes to the job are handled
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • How long it needs to cure

Choosing a repair company

For landlords and businesses

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Gloucestershire and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.
