The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take a couple of hours, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

Bath resealing at your home in Bramfield

A reseal is a small job that makes a big difference. Fresh joints make the entire room look cleaner, and they protect the walls and floor. We’re often asked to fix water getting behind the bath or tray and discoloured, yellow sealant, on kitchen worktops & sinks, shower trays & enclosures and basins & vanity units.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll come back.

What we can’t put right

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before you book.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Keeping it looking good

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in

Avoid scraping the joints, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

Resealing in Bramfield: why it matters

Resealing is routine maintenance. Putting off a reseal lets water get behind the bath or tray, and that damage costs much more to fix. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing usually costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.
