Brandfold questions

Does someone need to be in?

We need someone to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work.

Do you cover Brandfold?

Yes, we do. Technicians travel to Brandfold from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

What areas do you cover?

We work UK-wide, so Brandfold is covered. Prices do not change with location.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.

Do the materials smell?

It depends on the job, but often a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes, frequently. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Bath resealing in Brandfold without replacing anything

A reseal is a small job that makes a big difference. Fresh joints make the entire room look cleaner, and they keep water out. We regularly repair shower trays & enclosures, basins & vanity units and wet rooms, and common reasons people contact us are a messy previous reseal and black spots in the silicone.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re covered after the visit.

For landlords and businesses

If you manage property in Brandfold, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Send pictures for each one and we will come back with a combined price.

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, photos and access details and we will handle the rest.

What affects the price in Brandfold

You won’t pay by the hour. The price depends on:

  • The material and finish
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether we combine several jobs

Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Getting a price from photos

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

Email us pictures of the damage and one of the entire item, with your TN17 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Is resealing worth it?

A professional reseal costs little compared with water damage. It’s a quick job that protects your walls and floors. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why Brandfold clients choose us

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

What we can’t put right

We will not take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • A flexing bath
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

The process

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we will get on with it. The job generally runs to around two hours, including clearing up.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, taps included.

Before we arrive

  • Open a window if you can
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

How to get a price

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

How to look after the repair

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Wipe the joints dry after use

Use the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.
