Bath resealing in Brynhovah, done in place

Preparation is everything in a reseal: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Then the fresh sealant goes on, in a neat, continuous bead. Typical jobs include an untidy old seal and damp near the bath, in kitchen worktops & sinks, wet rooms and shower trays & enclosures.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Brynhovah as everywhere else we work.

Resealing in Brynhovah: why it matters

A professional reseal costs little compared with water damage. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

Why us?

  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • No extra charge for your area
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Most jobs done in one visit

Take a look at our full price list.

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Air the room after use
  • Don’t stand toiletries on the seal
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers

Avoid scraping the joints, and do not stand bottles on the seal.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. It may be more than a reseal, so we will tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Stained silicone
  • Leaks at the edges
  • Gaps by the taps

What your quote should include

  • How to care for the finish

  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price

Choosing a repair company

Different materials, different repairs

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Common questions in Brynhovah

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Why does mould come back so fast?

Normally poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. Mould-resistant silicone and good ventilation help.

How long does resealing take?

Around two hours for a bath, then it needs to cure.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

My seal keeps tearing. Why?

Generally because the bath or tray moves, or it was sealed with the bath empty. We fill the bath before sealing it.

Is it messy?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Is there a call-out fee?

There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

What affects the price in Brynhovah

You won’t pay by the hour. The price is based on:

  • The material
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • How easy the damage is to reach

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Send pictures for a quote

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • One picture of the whole bath or shower

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. Most jobs take a couple of hours, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

How to get a price

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

When we’d advise against a repair

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Hollow or loose tiles

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.
