Your questions about bath resealing in Buildwas

Do you come to Buildwas?

We do. Technicians travel to Buildwas from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

What does bath resealing cost?

Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

My seal keeps tearing. Why?

Something is moving. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.

Which areas do you work in?

We cover the whole UK, including Buildwas and the rest of Telford and Wrekin. Just include your postcode and we’ll confirm dates.

Can new silicone go over old?

All the old sealant comes out. Fresh silicone does not stick to old.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before.

Can I fix it myself?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

Is resealing worth it?

Resealing is a small job. Putting off a reseal lets water get behind the bath or tray, which costs far more to put right. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why us?

  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • Same prices wherever you are
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Nothing taken out or refitted

What affects the price in Buildwas

We price every job individually. What matters most is:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The material
  • How easy the damage is to reach

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Getting a price from photos

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • One picture of the entire bath or shower
  • Where you are, by postcode

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

When a repair is not the answer

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • Hidden water damage
  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

What we work on

  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

Keeping it looking good

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Don’t stand toiletries on the seal

Use the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

How the visit works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take about two hours for a bath, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

How to prepare

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, so the joint is at its widest.
