Bath resealing in Camelon

Bath resealing at your home in Camelon

Preparation is everything in a reseal: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Then the fresh sealant goes on, as one neat, continuous bead. Our repair technicians work on baths, wet rooms and basins & vanity units, and people most often call us about missing sealant behind the taps and discoloured, yellow sealant.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Prices and what affects them

There’s no area surcharge for Camelon. What changes the price is:

  • How much damage there is
  • The material
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How easy the damage is to reach

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before booking, with nothing added on the day.

Quotes from your photos

You can generally get a fixed price without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Any details about the material
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

Upload pictures of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you are in Camelon, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Why reseal now?

Resealing is routine maintenance. Putting off a reseal can let water reach the walls and floor, and that damage costs much more to fix. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

What a repair can’t fix

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Camelon questions

Do you seal over the old sealant?

We always remove the old sealant completely. Fresh silicone does not stick to old.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.

How long does silicone take to cure?

You will get the curing time from us.

Do you cover the whole of Falkirk?

Across the UK, so Camelon is covered. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

When can you do it?

Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

How long does resealing take?

A bath or shower usually takes a couple of hours. It then needs time to cure.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

What happens on the day

On the day, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. Expect it to take about two hours for a bath. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated

Keeping it looking good

Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:

  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Air the room after use
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Keep bottles off the joints

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, generally around 24 hours.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.
