Bath resealing at your home in Ceann Tangabhal

We cut out all of the old sealant, treat any mould, and apply fresh mould-resistant silicone. We do this for baths, showers, sinks and worktops, and that includes the awkward spots behind the taps. Typical jobs include silicone smeared on tiles and gaps by the taps, in shower trays & enclosures, kitchen worktops & sinks and wet rooms.

You are covered after we leave: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

When to call us in Ceann Tangabhal

A bathroom without good ventilation is hard on sealant: damp hangs around, and mould grows faster.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • Sealant that’s split or lifting
  • Leaks at the edges
  • Stained silicone
  • Silicone smeared on tiles

10 questions to ask before booking

Is resealing worth it?

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is and protects the walls and floor. Failed sealant can lead to water damage that is much more expensive. Compared with replacing, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

How it works

On the day, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job usually takes around two hours. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Preparing for the visit

Advice

What bath resealing costs

We charge the same across the UK, including Ceann Tangabhal. What changes the price is:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

How to get a fixed price

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To help us price it:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath or shower, we can give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Looking after it afterwards

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in

Use the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Reseal before water gets in. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

Your questions about bath resealing in Ceann Tangabhal

Do I have to be there?

We need someone to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.
