Bath resealing in Charford

About our bath resealing in Charford

A proper reseal starts with removing every trace of the old silicone. Fresh sealant doesn’t stick to old, which is why many DIY jobs peel. We work on baths, shower trays & enclosures and wet rooms, and the jobs we see most are an untidy old seal and discoloured, yellow sealant.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Common problems we fix in Charford

Poor ventilation speeds things up: moisture sits on the joints longer, and mould takes hold.

Keep an eye out for these signs:

  • Leaks at the edges
  • Silicone smeared on tiles
  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • Unsealed corners

10 questions to ask before booking

When a repair isn’t the answer

It helps to know what we cannot do:

  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

What we work on

  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

Aftercare tips

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers

Keep the room well ventilated, and wipe the joints after use.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. It may be more than a reseal, so we’ll tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

Repairs by material

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, so the joint is at its widest.

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

What bath resealing costs

There’s no area surcharge for Charford. The price reflects:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The material and finish
  • The colour and finish to match

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

How to get a fixed price

Phone pictures are fine. Make sure they show:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • The material, if you know it
  • A photo taken from further back
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed quote the same day in most cases.

Is resealing worth it?

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and mould stays trapped behind it. We remove the old sealant completely. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book.

Why book with us

  • No need to remove anything
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • One price list for the whole UK
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited

The process

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you are not left guessing. On site, it takes a couple of hours. The room is left tidy and you’ll know when it can be used.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

How to prepare

  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
