Bath resealing for Clerkenwell homes

Bath resealing in Clerkenwell without replacing anything

We reseal baths, shower trays, basins and worktops using mould-resistant silicone. Most jobs take a couple of hours. Our repair technicians work on wet rooms, kitchen worktops & sinks and baths, and common reasons people contact us are an untidy old seal and water getting behind the bath or tray.

All our work is covered by a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Greater London.

What bath resealing costs

We don’t charge extra for travel to Clerkenwell. The price comes down to:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How many areas need work
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Quotes from your photos

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • One picture of the entire bath or shower
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole bath or shower, we can give you a fixed price the same day in most cases.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

When we would advise against a repair

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Wet rooms
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

Do you need bath resealing in Clerkenwell?

No sealant lasts for ever. Each shower leaves moisture and soap behind, which mould loves, and the joint flexes each time the bath fills.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Damp near the bath
  • Mould you cannot clean out
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • Missing sealant behind the taps

Before booking anyone

  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • When it can be used again
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • How the colour is matched

10 questions to ask before you book

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Why it’s worth resealing in Clerkenwell

Resealing costs very little, and it protects everything around the bath. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. Compared with replacing, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Looking after it afterwards

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Air the room after use
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal

Use the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

How the visit works

Once we are through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. We mask off everything nearby, the work takes around two hours, depending on what we find, and we finish with a tidy-up and a look at the finished work together.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.
