When we would advise against a repair

It helps to know what we can’t do:

  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms

Bath resealing in Cold Row, done in place

Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Old, split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and resealing puts a stop to that. We work on wet rooms, shower trays & enclosures and basins & vanity units, and people most often call us about missing sealant behind the taps and black mould in the sealant.

Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

How we price bath resealing

There is no charge for travel to Cold Row. The price comes down to:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How much damage there is
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Access to the area

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Getting a price from photos

You can generally get a fixed price without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • The material, if you know it
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole bath or shower, we can give you a fixed quote the same day in most cases.

Signs you need bath resealing in Cold Row

Sealant does not last forever. Each shower leaves moisture and soap behind, which mould feeds on, and the joint flexes each time the bath fills.

Send us a picture if you notice any of these:

  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • Damp near the bath
  • Black mould in the sealant
  • Sealant that is split or lifting

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • What preparation is included
  • What aftercare is recommended

Our hiring checklist

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

For landlords and businesses

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Cold Row as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it typically costs far less than a refit.

How it works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. Most jobs take about two hours for a bath, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. Old sealant and residue are removed.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

How to prepare

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Advice

Why reseal now?

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is. Failed sealant can lead to water damage that is much more expensive. There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.
