About our bath resealing in Cootham
A proper reseal starts with removing every trace of the old silicone. New silicone won’t bond to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. Our repair technicians work on kitchen worktops & sinks, wet rooms and shower trays & enclosures, and the jobs we see most are sealant that’s split or lifting and an untidy old seal.
Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in West Sussex.

Landlord and trade work in Cootham
We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.
Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in West Sussex and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.
How to look after the repair
To keep it looking its best for years:
- Open a window after bathing
- Keep bottles off the joints
- Run the extractor fan during and after showers
- Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
Good ventilation is the best protection, and wipe the joints after use so mould struggles to take hold.
Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. It may be more than a reseal, so we will tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.
If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
What a repair can’t fix
Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:
- A flexing bath
- Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
- Gaps too big for silicone alone
Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Resealing in Cootham: why it matters
A professional reseal costs little compared with water damage. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.
Why book with us
- We leave the room as we found it
- Usually one visit, start to finish
- CHAS and Constructionline accredited
- A fixed quote before booking
See our prices page.
What your bath or shower is made of matters
Sinks and worktops
Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.
Shower trays
We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.
What we do, step by step
Visits start with a quick look at the job together. After that, protection goes down around the work area and the work begins. Allow a couple of hours, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.
- The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
- Old sealant and residue are removed.
- The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
- We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
- The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.
Preparing for the visit
- Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Make sure the room can be ventilated
Ask for a price
We price from pictures so you do not have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through.
Advice
Your questions about bath resealing in Cootham
Why does mould come back so fast?
Normally poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. Mould-resistant silicone and good ventilation help.
Can you reseal over the old silicone?
Never over old. The old sealant is cut out and the joint cleaned and dried.
Do you do work for letting agents?
Yes, frequently. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.
Will it make a mess?
No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.
Can tenants book a repair?
Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.
It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?
In most cases. The old repair comes out first, so mention it when you send pictures.
Is a repair better than a new one?
Normally, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
Prices and what affects them
We give every job a fixed quote from pictures. These are the things that affect it:
- How many items we do on one visit
- How easy the damage is to reach
- What the surface is made of
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
Quotes from your pictures
A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- A picture taken from further back
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
- Where you are, by postcode
Email us pictures of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, and tell us you’re in Cootham, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.
