Bath resealing near Dalry

Bath resealing in Dalry, done in place

A reseal is a small job that makes a big difference. Fresh joints make the whole room look cleaner, and they protect the walls and floor. We regularly repair shower trays & enclosures, baths and wet rooms, and the jobs we see most are discoloured, yellow sealant and black mould in the sealant.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we will sort it.

Dalry questions

Can new silicone go over old?

No, we never seal over old silicone. The old sealant is cut out and the joint cleaned and dried.

How long will it take?

Normally a couple of hours, then it needs to cure.

What areas do you cover?

Everywhere in the UK, Dalry included. Travel is included in the price.

When can I use the bath after resealing?

Normally after around 24 hours. We will tell you the exact time.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

Do you charge for travel?

There is no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

What information do you need?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

How to look after the repair

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Keep the joints dry
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner

Run the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Reseal before water gets in. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

Repairs by material

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, so the joint is at its widest.

How the visit works

You don’t need to empty the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. It usually takes a couple of hours, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. We ensure the joint is completely dry.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, taps included.

How to prepare

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Point us to the nearest place to park

How to get a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath or shower, add your postcode and send them over. You will get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Why reseal now?

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Dalry. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Why us?

  • Fixed prices from your pictures
  • No need to remove anything
  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • Usually one visit, start to finish

When to call us in Dalry

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the silicone, so cleaning cannot get it all out.

People generally call us when they notice something like this:

  • A messy previous reseal
  • Leaks at the edges
  • Mould you cannot clean out
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant

What your quote should include

  • Whether the price covers travel
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • When it can be used again
  • What aftercare is recommended

How to compare quotes

For landlords and businesses

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

When we’d advise against a repair

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.
