Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, so the joint is at its widest.

How we handle bath resealing in Dean Row

A good reseal is all about preparation: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Then the fresh sealant goes on, as one neat, continuous bead. If you’re dealing with discoloured, yellow sealant and gaps by the taps, we can usually put it right, on shower trays & enclosures, baths and basins & vanity units alike.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll come back.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

What a repair can’t fix

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair cannot fix:

  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures

What we do, step by step

Your technician turns up when we said we would and checks the damage against your pictures first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. Most visits take around two hours, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, including around the taps.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Advice

Keeping it looking good

Aftercare is simple:

  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Reseal when black spots will not clean off
  • Air the room after use
  • Dry the seal after bathing

Run the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Reseal before water gets in. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

Resealing in Dean Row: why it matters

Resealing is a small job. Leaving split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, which costs far more to put right. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You will see the full price before you book.

10 questions to ask before booking

FAQs for Dean Row

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Mostly moisture and poor ventilation. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

My seal keeps tearing. Why?

Typically because the bath or tray moves. We fill the bath before sealing it.

Is there any odour?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

How much does bath resealing cost in Dean Row?

Every job gets a fixed price from your pictures. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo and your postcode.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before and we will plan for it.

When can I use the bath after resealing?

Normally about a day later. We confirm before we leave.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.
