  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed

Bath resealing at your home in Domgay

We cut out all of the old sealant, deal with any mould, and apply fresh mould-resistant silicone. We reseal baths, showers, sinks and worktops, including the awkward bits behind the taps. Our repair technicians work on wet rooms, baths and shower trays & enclosures, and common reasons people get in touch are gaps in the seal and unsealed corners.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will sort it.

What bath resealing costs

We price every job individually, from your photos. What matters most is:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The material and finish
  • How many items we do on one visit

Compared with replacing, repairing usually costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Send photos for a quote

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

For a price in Domgay, the easiest route is pictures: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Is resealing worth it?

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It soon peels, and mould stays trapped behind it. We remove the old sealant completely. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Aftercare tips

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Store bottles on a shelf

Run the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. There may be more going on, so we’ll tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

Signs you need bath resealing in Domgay

No sealant lasts for ever. Each shower leaves moisture and soap behind, which mould feeds on, and the joint moves slightly every time the bath is filled.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • Gaps in the seal
  • Black spots in the silicone
  • An untidy old seal

10 questions to ask before you book

Your questions about bath resealing in Domgay

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and we will quote them together.

How long does a reseal take?

Around two hours for a bath, plus curing time.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before and we’ll plan for it.

Are there extra charges for Domgay?

There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

What information do you need?

Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we will take it from there.

Will the price change on the day?

We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

Usually because the bath or tray moves. We seal baths full of water.

The process

Arrival times are agreed in advance. Once we are there, the work takes about two hours for a bath in most cases. We leave the room clean and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, taps included.

How to prepare

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Getting a price

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we’ll come back with a fixed figure.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
