About our bath resealing in Five Ashes
Resealing is quick, but it transforms the look. Clean, white joints make a bathroom look cared for, and they keep water out. Typical jobs include leaks at the edges and sealant that’s split or lifting, on shower trays & enclosures, basins & vanity units and baths.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there is a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Why it’s worth resealing in Five Ashes
Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

The process
Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. It generally takes a couple of hours, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.
- The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
- Old sealant and residue are removed.
- We clean, treat and dry the joint.
- Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
- The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.
Before we arrive
- Point us to the nearest place to park
- Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
- Open a window if you can
Getting a price
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath or shower, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.
Advice
When a repair isn’t the answer
Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:
- Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
- Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
- A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.
Materials we repair
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Basins & vanity units
- Baths
- Kitchen worktops & sinks
- Wet rooms
Keeping it looking good
To keep it looking its best:
- Run the extractor fan during and after showers
- Reseal at the first sign of lifting
- Wipe the joints dry after use
- Air the room after use
Avoid scraping the joints, and do not stand bottles on the seal.
Black mould in sealant isn’t just unsightly, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

Different materials, different repairs
Shower trays
Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.
Sinks and worktops
We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.
DIY kit or professional repair?
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
Common questions in Five Ashes
I rent my home. Can I book you?
We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just make sure the landlord agrees.
Do I need to be at home?
Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.
How long does a reseal take?
Most reseals take about two hours. Leave it to cure before use.
How long does silicone take to cure?
We’ll give you the curing time, usually around a day.

My seal keeps tearing. Why?
