What happens on the day

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. Most jobs take about two hours for a bath, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We ensure the joint is completely dry.
  4. Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, taps included.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Advice

Keeping it looking good

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Use the extractor fan
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting

Don’t scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. It may be more than a reseal, and we’ll say if you need a builder or plumber.

Do you need bath resealing in Frating?

Joints split if the bath or tray moves, often because it was sealed with the bath empty.

If you can see any of these, send us a photo:

  • A messy previous reseal
  • Gaps by the taps
  • Damp near the bath
  • Gaps in the seal

Is resealing worth it?

Putting new silicone over old does not last. It soon peels, and mould stays trapped behind it. We remove the old sealant completely. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Frating

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Frating as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it normally costs far less than a refit.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

Repairs by material

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

What bath resealing costs

We don’t charge extra for travel to Frating. The price comes down to:

  • How much damage there is
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • What kind of damage it is
  • The material

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Send pictures for a quote

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • A photo taken from further back

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath or shower, add your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.
