About our bath resealing in Golden Valley

The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. New silicone won’t bond to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. We work on kitchen worktops & sinks, baths and shower trays & enclosures, and common reasons people get in touch are a messy previous reseal and sealant that’s split or lifting.

Every job is backed for twelve months in Golden Valley and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

What we cannot put right

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

What we do, step by step

There is not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll get on with it. The job generally runs to a couple of hours, tidy-up included.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, taps included.

Preparing for the visit

  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner

Use the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

FAQs for Golden Valley

How long does resealing take?

Around two hours for a bath, plus curing time.

Why does mould come back so fast?

Mostly moisture and poor ventilation. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

Do you cover the entire of Gloucestershire?

What bath resealing costs

There is no area surcharge for Golden Valley. What changes the price is:

  • How much damage there is
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

DIY kit or professional repair?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

Why reseal now?

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.
