Surface repairs across GL51

Bath repair at your home in GL51

We have repaired just about every kind of bath damage: dropped-bottle chips, plughole rust, acrylic cracks and impact holes. Each is repaired in place. Common call-outs are for a hole punched through by something heavy and hairline or through cracks in acrylic, in roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and cast iron enamel.

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, then carry out the work, which usually takes two to three hours for most chips. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the next day.

Pricing in GL51

Our bath repair starts from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for GL51. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Honest limits

It helps to know what we cannot do:

  • A steel bath rusted through
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

How to care for the repair

Aftercare is simple:

  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Do not scrub with anything abrasive
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas

Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Get any new chip seen to quickly, before rust sets in.

A small chip is a quick job. Leave them and they collect dirt, stain and, on metal baths, rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • What the surface is made of
  • The type of damage
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The size and number of damaged areas

Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Getting a price from photos

Two or three clear photos are usually enough. Try to include:

  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Your questions about bath repair in GL51

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. We take it back to sound metal, seal it, fill it and match the colour.

How invisible is a bath repair?

On a bath in good condition, a colour-matched repair is very hard to spot. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.

Will there be a smell?

It depends on the job, but often a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.

What do you need from me?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787.

Which areas do you work in?

Everywhere in the UK, GL51 included. Travel is included in the price.

Can you price it without visiting?

Usually, yes. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed price without visiting.
