How we handle bath resealing in Grampound

Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Failed sealant lets water get where it shouldn’t, and resealing puts a stop to that. Typical jobs include leaks at the edges and mould you can’t clean out, across basins & vanity units, shower trays & enclosures and baths.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

Can I fix it myself?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Grampound: your questions answered

How soon can you come?

That depends on our diary for your area. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you will get one combined price.

What happens after I send pictures?

We review the pictures and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, we often do. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners across Cornwall.

How do I book?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we will take it from there.

Which areas do you work in?

All of Cornwall, and the rest of the UK. There is no extra charge for travel.

What happens if you find more damage?

Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. If there is more, we will tell you before starting.

How we price bath resealing

Prices are worked out job by job. What matters most is:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Access to the area
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The colour and finish to match

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Getting a price from pictures

Two or three clear photos are typically enough. It helps if you send:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath or shower, include your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

What we can’t put right

A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:

  • Hidden water damage
  • A flexing bath
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths

The process

We begin by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. You can expect it to take around two hours, and we will tell you if anything changes.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

How to get a price

Email us a picture of the damage and one of the entire item, with your TR2 postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, so the joint is at its widest.

What we are called out for in Grampound

Poor ventilation speeds things up: moisture sits on the joints longer, and mould grows faster.

The most common problems we’re called about are:

  • Silicone smeared on tiles
  • Damp near the bath
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Old sealant that looks dirty

How to compare quotes

Why it’s worth resealing in Grampound

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why Grampound customers choose us

  • No need to remove anything
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Same prices wherever you are

Aftercare tips

Aftercare is simple:

  • Use the extractor fan
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Keep the joints dry
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner

Use the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Black mould in sealant isn’t just unsightly; it shows moisture is getting in. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.
