Bath Resealing in Cornwall

Bath resealing at your home in Cornwall

A proper reseal starts with removing every trace of the old silicone. Fresh sealant does not stick to old, which is why many DIY jobs peel. We work on shower trays & enclosures, wet rooms and baths, and people most frequently call us about damp near the bath and missing sealant behind the taps.

We begin by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. It normally takes around two hours, and we’ll tell you if anything changes.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. The joint is dried thoroughly.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, taps included.

What it costs in Cornwall

Getting a price

For a price in Cornwall, photos are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Near you in Truro

Typical jobs here are in homes near County Museum And Library (Royal Institution Of Cornwall), Penair School and St George the Martyr, among other places. Also close by are Church of St Mary Clement (within half a mile north-east), Bosvigo School (less than half a mile south-west), Victoria Gardens (less than half a mile north-west) and The Globe Public House (less than half a mile east). There’s a railway station in Truro itself: Truro station. A little further out are County Museum And Library (Royal Institution Of Cornwall) (within half a mile east) and Royal Cornwall Infirmary (0.5 miles south). For a walk, there’s Daubuz Moors.

  • Parks and local facilities nearby include Carrick (within half a mile east)

Resealing across Cornwall

We cover 12 larger towns and 573 villages and hamlets across Cornwall, and a reseal is a couple of hours wherever you are.

Truro: If you manage a building such as Bosvigo School, we repair changing rooms and washrooms as well as work in homes. Rented homes near Truro station (in Truro itself) change hands frequently, and repairing baths and showers between tenants is quicker than replacing them.

Different materials, different repairs

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

What bath resealing costs

There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • What the surface is made of
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How much damage there is

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Send pictures for a quote

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath or shower, include your postcode and send them to us. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

What we’re called out for in Cornwall

Sealant doesn’t last forever. Every bath or shower adds moisture and soap residue, which mould feeds on, and the joint flexes each time the bath fills.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • A messy previous reseal
  • Black mould in the sealant
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • Gaps in the seal

Why repair rather than replace?

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is, and it protects everything around the bath. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix.

Comparing quotes

  • Whether the price covers travel
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • Who turns up on the day

For landlords and businesses

Hospitality businesses can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Questions from Cornwall

Do you charge for travel?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders in Cornwall.

How long before I can shower?

Normally after around 24 hours. We confirm before we leave.

Are you accredited?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

Usually because the bath or tray moves, or it was sealed with the bath empty. We fill the bath before sealing it.
