How we handle bath resealing in Habrough

We reseal baths with them filled with water, so the joint opens fully, so the seal does not tear when the bath is first used. We regularly repair wet rooms, baths and kitchen worktops & sinks, and the jobs we see most are leaks at the edges and discoloured, yellow sealant.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

When to call us in Habrough

Even good sealant eventually discolours particularly in a well-used bathroom. Steam, soap and movement all wear it down.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Black mould in the sealant
  • Sealant that’s split or lifting
  • Missing sealant behind the taps
  • An untidy old seal

Before booking anyone

  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • If travel is included in the price

How to compare quotes

Is resealing worth it?

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is, and it protects everything around the bath. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

Why Habrough clients choose us

  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • A fixed quote before you book

Work for landlords and builders

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

Prices and what affects them

You will know the full cost before you book. We look at:

  • The material and finish
  • Access to the area
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The type of damage

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Quotes from your pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Questions from Habrough

Is there a guarantee?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Which areas do you work in?

The entire UK, including all of North East Lincolnshire. Send your postcode with your pictures and we will confirm dates.

What happens after I send photos?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

My seal keeps tearing. Why?

Something is moving. If it keeps happening, the support may need fixing.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Mould needs moisture. Ventilation and drying keep it clean longer.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Generally, yes. Tell us what was done before and we’ll plan for it.

How the visit works

You do not need to empty the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. Most jobs take a couple of hours, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. We make sure the joint is completely dry.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, taps included.

Before we arrive

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

What a repair can’t fix

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

What we work on

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms
  • Baths

Different materials, different repairs
