We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Bath resealing in Halfkey, done in place

The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. New silicone will not bond to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. Whether it’s a messy previous reseal and sealant that’s split or lifting, we can help, on wet rooms, shower trays & enclosures and basins & vanity units alike.

You are covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Aftercare tips

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Store bottles on a shelf

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, normally about a day.

Reseal before water gets in. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Questions from Halfkey

Which areas do you work in?

Everywhere in the UK, Halfkey included. There’s no extra charge for travel.

Do the materials smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work that clears as it cures.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders in Halfkey.

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

Work for landlords and builders

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

What we are called out for in Halfkey

Sealant splits when the bath or tray moves, often because it was sealed while the bath was empty.

People usually call us after spotting something like this:

  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • Damp near the bath
  • Gaps by the taps
  • An untidy old seal

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • How changes to the job are handled
  • Whether they match the colour on site

How to compare quotes

Is resealing worth it?

Resealing is routine maintenance. Putting off a reseal lets water get behind the bath or tray, and that damage costs much more to fix. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why us?

  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • We’ll tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Fixed prices from your pictures

What we do, step by step

Your technician turns up when we said we would and checks the damage against your photos first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. Most visits take around two hours, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. We make sure the joint is completely dry.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We run a new bead of mould-resistant silicone and smooth it neatly, taps included.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

How to get a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath or shower, add your postcode and send them over. You will get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Prices and what affects them

You won’t pay by the hour. The price depends on:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How much damage there is
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Access to the area

A repair usually costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Quotes from your pictures

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Details of any past repairs
  • A picture taken from further back
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Send us pictures of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, and tell us you’re in Halfkey, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.
