Bath resealing in Halfway without replacing anything

A good reseal is all about preparation: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Only then does the new sealant go on, in a neat, continuous bead. Typical jobs include silicone smeared on tiles and mould you can’t clean out, across shower trays & enclosures, basins & vanity units and wet rooms.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we will sort it.

Landlord and trade work in Halfway

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Carmarthenshire and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Prices and what affects them

We charge the same across the UK, including Halfway. What changes the price is:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How many areas need work

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking, with no extras added later.

Send pictures for a quote

Two or three clear photos are typically enough. It helps if you send:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • One picture of the whole bath or shower
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

If you are in Halfway and want a price, the easiest route is pictures: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

Why it’s worth resealing in Halfway

Putting new silicone over old does not last. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

When we’d advise against a repair

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Hidden water damage
  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Hollow or loose tiles

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Wet rooms
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures

How it works

We turn up at the time we agreed with you and checks the damage against your pictures first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. Most visits take a couple of hours, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Advice

Different materials, different repairs

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Halfway questions

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Mould needs moisture. Run the fan, dry the joints and the new seal stays cleaner for longer.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Of course. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include photos of each item.

What areas do you cover?

The entire UK, including all of Carmarthenshire. Just include your postcode and we will offer you dates.

Will there be a smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, so we ventilate the room. It fades as everything cures.

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

All the old sealant comes out. New silicone will not bond to old.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Nearly always. If pictures don’t show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

How to look after the repair

Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:

  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Keep the joints dry
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Air the room after use

Don’t scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. There may be more going on, and we will say if you need a builder or plumber.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.
