Bath resealing for Hallam Head homes

About our bath resealing in Hallam Head

The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. New silicone will not bond to old, which is why many DIY jobs peel. Typical jobs include sealant that’s split or lifting and stained silicone, on wet rooms, basins & vanity units and kitchen worktops & sinks.

All our work is covered by a one-year guarantee.

10 questions to ask before booking

Hallam Head: your questions answered

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

How long will it take?

Normally a couple of hours, then it needs to cure.

Do you cover Hallam Head?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Hallam Head and the rest of Sheffield. Send pictures and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

Usually because the bath or tray moves, or it was sealed with the bath empty. We fill the bath before sealing it.

How much does bath resealing cost in Hallam Head?

Every job gets a fixed quote based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your S10 postcode.

Do you charge for travel?

We do not add a call-out fee. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Keeping it looking good

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Air the room after use
  • Don’t stand toiletries on the seal
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly

Good ventilation is the best protection, and wipe the joints after use to keep mould away.

Black mould in sealant isn’t just unsightly; it shows moisture is getting in. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

Different materials, different repairs

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Is resealing worth it?

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is and protects the walls and floor. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

How it works

Here’s how a visit typically runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and tidy away. Plan for around two hours from start to finish. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before

Ask for a price

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

Advice

What bath resealing costs

There’s no area surcharge for Hallam Head. The price reflects:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How many areas need work
  • What the surface is made of

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Quotes from your photos

Two or three clear pictures are typically enough. Try to include:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

To get a price, send a couple of photos using our quote form or ring us. We’ll say immediately if a repair is the right fix.

When we’d advise against a repair

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Hidden water damage
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.
