Bath resealing near Hare Hatch

Bath resealing in Hare Hatch without replacing anything

A proper reseal starts with removing every trace of the old silicone. New silicone will not bond to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. Typical jobs include black spots in the silicone and damp near the bath, on kitchen worktops & sinks, wet rooms and shower trays & enclosures.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

The process

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, protect the area, and get on with the job, which normally takes a couple of hours. If anything looks different from your pictures, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Why it’s worth resealing in Hare Hatch

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

Why book with us

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

Hare Hatch questions

Can you repair several things at once?

Of course, and it normally saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and we’ll quote them together.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

You will get a fixed quote back. You are under no obligation.

Will the price change on the day?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

Is it messy?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

How soon can you come?

Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

How long before I can shower?

We’ll give you the curing time, generally around a day.

Do I have to be there?

We need someone to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.

How do I book?

Just photos, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, access to the room.

Common problems we fix in Hare Hatch

Even good sealant eventually discolours particularly in a well-used bathroom. Steam, soap and movement all take their toll.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • An untidy old seal
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • Black spots in the silicone
  • Gaps in the seal

What your quote should include

  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • How soon you can use it again
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show

How to compare quotes

Aftercare tips

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, normally about a day.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem; it shows moisture is getting in. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

What a repair cannot fix

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Hollow or loose tiles
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms

Prices and what affects them

Prices are worked out job by job. What matters most is:

  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The material and finish

We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Hare Hatch. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Quotes from your photos

You can take the pictures on your phone, there’s no need for anything special. Just make sure we can see:

  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Details of any past repairs

Send us photos of the damage and one of the entire item, with your RG10 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

Can I fix it myself?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.
