Bath resealing in Harpsden without replacing anything

Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Failed sealant lets water get where it shouldn’t, and a new seal stops it. We are often asked to fix sealant that’s split or lifting and damp near the bath, on basins & vanity units, shower trays & enclosures and baths.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Use the extractor fan

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, generally around 24 hours.

Reseal before water gets in. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

When to call us in Harpsden

A bathroom without good ventilation is hard on sealant: damp hangs around, and mould takes hold.

Most people get in touch when they notice something like this:

  • Damp near the bath
  • Gaps in the seal
  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • A messy previous reseal

10 questions to ask before you book

Why reseal now?

Resealing is a small job. Putting off a reseal can let water reach the walls and floor, which costs far more to put right. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

For landlords and businesses

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

For anyone letting property in or around Harpsden, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send photos for each one and we’ll come back with a combined price.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

How we price bath resealing

We price every job individually. What matters most is:

  • The material and finish
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The type of damage
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking.

How to get a fixed price

When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Details of any past repairs
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. There is no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.

Different materials, different repairs

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Common questions in Harpsden

Can pets and children be at home?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.

What happens next?

We come back with a fixed quote. You are under no obligation.

My seal keeps tearing. Why?

Usually because the bath or tray moves. We fill the bath before sealing it.

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

All the old sealant comes out. Fresh silicone does not stick to old.

What happens if you find more damage?

The price is fixed for what the pictures show. If there’s more, we will tell you before starting.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we will tell you.

What we do, step by step

Arrival times are agreed in advance. Once we are there, the work takes a couple of hours in most cases. We leave the room clean.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. We make sure the joint is completely dry.
  4. For a bath, we fill it with water first so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, taps included.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Make sure the area is dry
