Bath resealing in Heeley without replacing anything

Baths, trays, basins and kitchen worktops all get resealed, with mould-resistant sanitary silicone. Most jobs take a couple of hours, plus curing time. Our repair technicians work on basins & vanity units, shower trays & enclosures and baths, and common reasons people contact us are stained silicone and an untidy old seal.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Questions from Heeley

Is it messy?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

Can you quote from pictures?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos can’t show what we need.

What happens next?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one.

Is there a call-out fee?

We do not add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

Never over old. It’s removed, cleaned off and the joint dried first.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

How the visit works

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, then carry out the work, which typically takes about two hours for a bath. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Open a window if you can
  • Let us know about parking or access

Related advice

Signs you need bath resealing in Heeley

Sealant doesn’t last forever. Every bath or shower adds moisture and soap residue, which mould loves, and the joint flexes each time the bath fills.

Clients normally contact us about:

  • Gaps by the taps
  • Black mould in the sealant
  • Silicone smeared on tiles
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles

  • Aftercare advice

How to compare quotes

Should I try a DIY kit first?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

Repairs by material

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Work for landlords and builders

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we will arrange it.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

Is resealing worth it?

Compared with repairing water damage, resealing is cheap. It’s a quick job that protects your walls and floors. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Heeley. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Why choose Surface Doctor in Heeley

When a repair isn’t the answer

We will not take on work that will not last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Hidden water damage
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Basins & vanity units

Keeping it looking good

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Open a window after bathing

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, normally about a day.

Reseal before water gets in. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.
