Need bath resealing in Hempstead?

Bath resealing in Hempstead, done in place

The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. Fresh sealant does not stick to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. Whether it’s water getting behind the bath or tray and a messy previous reseal, we can typically put it right, on kitchen worktops & sinks, shower trays & enclosures and wet rooms alike.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

  • An untidy old seal
  • Missing sealant behind the taps
  • Stained silicone
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray

What your quote should include

Questions from Hempstead

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will tell you when the room can be used again.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Is it messy?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we have finished.

When can you do it?

Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Will there be a smell?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you will get one combined price.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

What a repair can’t fix

We won’t take on work that will not last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms

How the visit works

Here’s how a visit normally runs: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Plan for around two hours. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
  2. We clean the joint and treat any mould.
  3. We make sure the joint is completely dry.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, taps included.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

How to get a price

You don’t need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Advice

Looking after it afterwards

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Let steam out after showers
  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly

Run the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Black mould in sealant is not just unsightly. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

Why reseal now?

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.
