Trusted bath resealing in Hogpits Bottom

Bath resealing in Hogpits Bottom, done in place

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest, which stops the new seal tearing the first time the bath is used. Common call-outs are for stained silicone and a messy previous reseal, across kitchen worktops & sinks, basins & vanity units and baths.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

What happens on the day

On the day, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job generally takes about two hours for a bath. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Before we arrive

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated

Signs you need bath resealing in Hogpits Bottom

Sealant does not last forever. Each shower leaves moisture and soap behind, which mould loves, and the joint moves slightly every time the bath is filled.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • Unsealed corners
  • Gaps in the seal
  • Damp near the bath
  • An untidy old seal

10 questions to ask before you book

Common questions in Hogpits Bottom

Will there be a smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work, which fades afterwards.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

Normally because the bath or tray moves. We seal baths full of water.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Will the price change on the day?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

Can tenants book a repair?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Just ensure the landlord agrees.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it is not worth repairing, we will tell you.

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, once the joint is completely dry.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

What bath resealing costs

Each job gets its own fixed quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The type of damage
  • Unusual colours or finishes

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

How to get a fixed price

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • The material, if you know it

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

What a repair can’t fix

Not everything can be repaired, and we’ll tell you before we start. We cannot fix:

  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units

How to look after the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Store bottles on a shelf

Run the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Reseal before water gets in. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

Is resealing worth it?

Putting new silicone over old does not last. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Why us?

  • One price list for the whole UK
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • Rooms protected and left tidy

Can I fix it myself?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.
