Bath & shower resealing (mastic) in Housham Tye, Essex
Bath, shower and sink resealing with new mould-resistant silicone at your home in Housham Tye, with a one-year guarantee on every repair.
- Mould you can’t clean out
- Gaps in the seal
- Water getting behind the bath or tray

Work for landlords and builders
Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We will fit around changeovers where we can.
Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.
Bath resealing in Housham Tye, done in place
We cut out all of the old sealant, treat any mould, and apply fresh mould-resistant silicone. We do this for baths, showers, sinks and worktops, and that includes the awkward spots behind the taps. We regularly repair wet rooms, baths and kitchen worktops & sinks, and common reasons people contact us are gaps in the seal and missing sealant behind the taps.
You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll come back.

Shower trays
We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.
FAQs for Housham Tye
Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?
Mostly moisture and poor ventilation. Mould-resistant silicone and good ventilation help.
Can new silicone go over old?
All the old sealant comes out. Fresh silicone does not stick to old.
Do you hold any accreditations?
We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.
Do you do work for letting agents?
Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders across Essex.
Can you price it without visiting?
In nearly every case. If pictures don’t show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.
Can you repair something that is been repaired before?
In most cases. The old repair comes out first, so mention it when you send pictures.
Is it OK to have pets in the house?
Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.
Is repairing better than replacing?
In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we will tell you.
When to call us in Housham Tye
No sealant lasts for ever. Every bath or shower adds moisture and soap residue, which mould loves, and the joint moves slightly every time the bath is filled.
Contact us if you’ve noticed any of these:
- Discoloured, yellow sealant
- Silicone coming away from the tiles
- An untidy old seal
- Unsealed corners
What to look for in a quote
- How to care for the finish
- Whether a trained technician does the job
- What happens if they find more damage
- If travel is included in the price
Why it’s worth resealing in Housham Tye
Resealing is routine maintenance. Leaving split or mouldy sealant can let water reach the walls and floor, which costs far more to put right. Compared with replacing, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.
Why book with us
- One price list for the whole UK
- Nothing taken out or refitted
- Rooms protected and left tidy
- Free fixed quotes from pictures
Read our prices page.
Can I fix it myself?
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.
The process
It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which normally takes around two hours. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.
- We cut out all of the old sealant.
- We remove the residue and clean the joint.
- Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
- The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
- We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.
Before we arrive
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
- Tell us about parking, stairs or access

When we’d advise against a repair
Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:
- A flexing bath
- Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
- Gaps too big for silicone alone
If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.
Surfaces we repair
- Baths
- Kitchen worktops & sinks
- Wet rooms
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Basins & vanity units
Keeping it looking good
To keep it looking its best:
- Do not stand toiletries on the seal
- Open a window after bathing
- Run the extractor fan during and after showers
- Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
Keep the room well ventilated, and wipe the joints after use to keep mould away.
Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. It may be more than a reseal, so we’ll tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.
