Bath resealing in Huntsham

Bath resealing in Huntsham without replacing anything

We reseal baths, shower trays, basins and worktops using mould-resistant silicone. A typical reseal takes a couple of hours. We regularly repair baths, kitchen worktops & sinks and basins & vanity units, and the jobs we see most are unsealed corners and mould you can’t clean out.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll sort it.

Your questions about bath resealing in Huntsham

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

How do I book?

Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, we often do. Removing the old work can add time, and that’s in the quote.

Can you price it without visiting?

Typically, yes. Clear photos let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes, often. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Damp is the cause. Ventilation and drying keep it clean longer.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you will get one combined price.

How the visit works

Here’s how a visit typically runs: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and tidy away. Allow around two hours. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and how to look after it.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Preparing for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Advice

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, so the joint is at its widest.

Keeping it looking good

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in

Do not scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

Reseal before water gets in. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

What we cannot put right

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • Hidden water damage
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before booking.

What we work on

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units

How we price bath resealing

You will not pay by the hour. The price is based on:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The colour and finish to match
  • How many areas need work
  • What kind of damage it is

Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

Send pictures for a quote

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To make it quick:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Any details about the material
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

To get a price, send two or three photos through our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.

What we’re called out for in Huntsham

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning can’t get it all out.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Leaks at the edges
  • Silicone smeared on tiles
  • Missing sealant behind the taps
  • Black mould in the sealant

Questions to ask before booking

  • If travel is included in the price
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • How to care for the finish
  • Who will actually do the work

10 questions to ask before booking

Why reseal now?

Putting new silicone over old does not last. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why choose Surface Doctor in Huntsham

  • No need to remove anything
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • No extra charge for your area
  • One visit for most repairs
