Bath resealing in Iping without replacing anything

A fresh seal protects your bathroom. Failed sealant lets water get where it shouldn’t, and a new seal stops it. We regularly repair basins & vanity units, wet rooms and kitchen worktops & sinks, and people most often call us about old sealant that looks dirty and leaks at the edges.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Can I fix it myself?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

Landlord and trade work in Iping

Hospitality businesses can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Why it’s worth resealing in Iping

Putting new silicone over old does not last. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. A proper reseal removes the old first. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

Why us?

  • Everything repaired in place
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Every repair guaranteed for a year

What a repair cannot fix

We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

Signs you need bath resealing in Iping

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning can’t get it all out.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Unsealed corners
  • Black spots in the silicone
  • Damp near the bath
  • Old sealant that looks dirty

Questions from Iping

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, we often do. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the photos can’t show what we need.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit normally costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Will the price change on the day?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

What areas do you cover?

All of West Sussex, and the rest of the UK. Travel is included in the price.

Are you accredited?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Is there a call-out fee?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

How to care for the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Open a window after bathing
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting

Good ventilation is the best protection, and dry the joints after bathing so mould struggles to take hold.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

What we do, step by step

We turn up when we said we would, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. The work itself takes about two hours for a bath, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. The joint is cleaned and any mould treated.
  3. We dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, taps included.

How to prepare

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Clear the area around the damage
