Bath resealing in Lambourn

Bath resealing at your home in Lambourn

A good reseal is all about preparation: old silicone removed, mould treated, the joint cleaned and dried. Then the fresh sealant goes on, in a neat, continuous bead. If you are dealing with mould you can’t clean out and silicone smeared on tiles, we can generally put it right, whatever the material.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

When a repair isn’t the answer

In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • Very wide gaps that need a trim
  • A flexing bath
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Basins & vanity units

Keeping it looking good

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Open a window after bathing
  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal
  • Reseal when black spots will not clean off
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly

Keep the room well ventilated, and wipe the joints after use.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. There may be more going on, and we will say if you need a builder or plumber.

Can I fix it myself?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

Why it’s worth resealing in Lambourn

Resealing costs very little, and it protects everything around the bath. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking.

Lambourn questions

What happens if you find more damage?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.

How quickly can you book me in?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Do you come to Lambourn?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Lambourn and the rest of West Berkshire. Send pictures and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

Movement is the usual cause. We seal baths full of water.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit typically costs less than separate visits. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

How long does resealing take?

Typically a couple of hours, then it needs to cure.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across West Berkshire.

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Mostly moisture and poor ventilation. Mould-resistant silicone and good ventilation help.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Lambourn

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Lambourn use us as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it usually costs far less than a refit.

Different materials, different repairs

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

What affects the price in Lambourn

We charge the same across the UK, including Lambourn. The price reflects:

  • How much damage there is
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How many items we do on one visit

Compared with replacing, repairing usually costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Getting a price from photos

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath or shower
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

To get a price, send two or three pictures using our quote form or call us. We’ll say immediately if a repair is the right fix.

How the visit works

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you’re not left guessing. Once we’re there, the work takes around two hours. The room is left tidy.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
