Bath resealing at your home in Litlington

The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. Fresh sealant doesn’t stick to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. We’re often asked to fix a messy previous reseal and old sealant that looks dirty, in baths, wet rooms and shower trays & enclosures.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we will sort it.

What your bath or shower is made of matters

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Is resealing worth it?

Resealing is a small job. Leaving split or mouldy sealant lets water get behind the bath or tray, and that damage costs much more to fix. Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Why us?

  • One-year guarantee on every repair

Common questions in Litlington

Do you hold any accreditations?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

When can I use the bath after resealing?

Normally about a day later. We’ll tell you the exact time.

Do the materials smell?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

Can you price it without visiting?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.

How long does a reseal take?

Normally a couple of hours, plus curing time.

Do you cover Litlington?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and come to Litlington and the rest of East Sussex. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

Movement is the usual cause, or it was sealed with the bath empty. We fill the bath before sealing it.

Will you leave a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Honest limits

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures

How to look after the repair

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Ventilate the bathroom well
  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Dry the seal after bathing

Run the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

How the visit works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take a couple of hours, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We make sure the joint is completely dry.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. We apply new mould-resistant silicone and tool it to a neat finish, including around the taps.

Before we arrive

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

How to get a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath or shower, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.
