Bath resealing near Lower Common

Bath resealing in Lower Common without replacing anything

We cut out all of the old sealant, treat any mould, and reseal with new mould-resistant silicone. We reseal baths, showers, sinks and worktops, and that includes the awkward spots behind the taps. We regularly repair wet rooms, shower trays & enclosures and baths, and common reasons people get in touch are old sealant that looks dirty and gaps by the taps.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Lower Common and across Hampshire.

Repairs by material

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

How the visit works

Visits start with a quick look at the job together. Next, we cover and mask everything nearby and the work begins. Allow a couple of hours.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Ensure the area is dry

For landlords and businesses

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Honest limits

We will not take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
  • Hollow or loose tiles

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Choosing a repair company

Lower Common: your questions answered

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Do the materials smell?

It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

Something is moving. If it keeps happening, the support may need fixing.

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Damp is the cause. Ventilation and drying keep it clean longer.

How long will it take?

Most reseals take about two hours. Leave it to cure before use.

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You don’t need to watch us work.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

Never over old. The old sealant is cut out and the joint cleaned and dried.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include photos of each item.

How to look after the repair

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Keep bottles off the joints

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, generally around 24 hours.

Reseal before water gets in. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

Why it’s worth resealing in Lower Common

A reseal is one of the cheapest bathroom jobs there is. Failed sealant can lead to water damage that is much more expensive. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

Why us?

  • No need to remove anything
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • A fixed quote before you book

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
