Aftercare tips

To keep it looking its best:

  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Keep the joints dry

Keep the room well ventilated, and wipe the joints after use so mould struggles to take hold.

Black mould in sealant isn’t just unsightly, it’s a sign moisture is sitting in the joint. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

Bath resealing in Lower Dean, done in place

A proper reseal starts with removing every trace of the old silicone. New silicone won’t bond to old, which is why many DIY jobs peel. Whether it’s sealant that’s split or lifting and silicone smeared on tiles, we can normally put it right.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months in Lower Dean and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

The process

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can carry on at home. We protect the area first, then the work takes around two hours. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Clear the area around the damage

Questions from Lower Dean

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners across Cambridgeshire.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We look at the pictures and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

Typically because the bath or tray moves. We seal baths full of water.

How do I book?

Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787.

Will you leave a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

How do I stop mould in sealant?

Mostly moisture and poor ventilation. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

How soon can you come?

That depends on our diary for your area. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

Our hiring checklist

How we price bath resealing

There is no charge for travel to Lower Dean. The price depends on:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The material and finish
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Send photos for a quote

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Any details about the material
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath or shower
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

For a price in Lower Dean, photos are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

Why reseal now?

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It peels within weeks, and mould stays trapped behind it. A proper reseal removes the old first. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

For landlords and businesses

Letting agents often send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

Repairs by material

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.
