Bath & shower resealing (mastic) in Marcroes, Vale of Glamorgan
Bath resealing in Marcroes without the cost of replacing. Get a fixed price from your photos, then we come to you.
- Black spots in the silicone
- Sealant that is split or lifting
- Old sealant that looks dirty

Can I fix it myself?
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.
Bath resealing in Marcroes, done in place
A proper reseal starts with removing every trace of the old silicone. Fresh sealant does not stick to old, which is why many DIY jobs peel. Whether it’s black spots in the silicone and unsealed corners, we can usually put it right, on shower trays & enclosures, baths and basins & vanity units alike.
Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Marcroes questions
Do the materials smell?
A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.
Can new silicone go over old?
We always remove the old sealant completely. Fresh silicone doesn’t stick to old.
Do you hold any accreditations?
We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.
How soon can you come?
We will give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.
What happens if you find more damage?
It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.
Why does my sealant keep splitting?
Something is moving. Persistent splitting can mean the support needs attention.
Can landlords book you?
Yes. We carry out repairs for householders, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses in Marcroes.
Are there extra charges for Marcroes?
Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Shower trays
Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.
Baths
Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest.
Why reseal now?
Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It soon peels, and mould stays trapped behind it. A proper reseal removes the old first. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.
Why Marcroes customers choose us
- Same prices wherever you are
- Dust sheets down, tidy finish
- Nothing taken out or refitted
- Typically one visit, start to finish

What affects the price in Marcroes
You’ll know the full cost before you book. We take into account:
- How much damage there is
- Access to the area
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- How hard the colour is to match
The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.
Quotes from your pictures
Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- Details of any past repairs
- What it’s made of, if you know
- One picture of the whole bath or shower
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath or shower, include your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed price, not an estimate.
For landlords and businesses
Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.
Keeping it looking good
Nothing complicated is needed:
- Wipe the joints dry after use
- Replace the seal when mould sets in
- Clean the sealant gently and regularly
- Keep bottles off the joints
Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, normally around 24 hours.
Black mould in sealant is not just unsightly. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.
What we can’t put right
To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair will not fix:
- Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
- A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
- Gaps too big for silicone alone
Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

How it works
On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll get on with it. Most visits take a couple of hours, tidy-up included.
- We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
- We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
- The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
- We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
- The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.
Getting ready for the visit
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
- Make sure the room can be ventilated
- Point us to the nearest place to park
