Looking after it afterwards

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Air the room after use
  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, typically around 24 hours.

Reseal before water gets in. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

Bath resealing at your home in Middleton

We reseal baths, shower trays, basins and worktops, with mould-resistant sanitary silicone. A typical reseal takes a couple of hours. Whether it’s gaps by the taps and gaps in the seal, we can generally put it right, on shower trays & enclosures, basins & vanity units and kitchen worktops & sinks alike.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll come back.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

Your questions about bath resealing in Middleton

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send photos with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

We always remove the old sealant completely. New silicone will not bond to old.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Does someone need to be in?

We need someone to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

Something is moving. If it keeps happening, the support may need fixing.

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

Will the price change on the day?

The price is fixed for what the pictures show. If there’s more, we’ll tell you before starting.

Do you come to Middleton?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to Middleton. Send photos and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Prices and what affects them

We charge the same across the UK, including Middleton. What changes the price is:

  • How much damage there is
  • What kind of damage it is
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The material

We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

How to get a fixed price

You can generally get a fixed price without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed quote.

Is resealing worth it?

A professional reseal costs little compared with water damage. It’s a quick job that protects your walls and floors. A repair generally costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

What you get with us

  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • A fixed quote before you book
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited

See our prices page.

Honest limits

Not everything can be repaired, and we will tell you before we start. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Gaps too big for silicone alone

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

Landlord and trade work in Middleton

Letting agents often send us photos straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, photos and access details and we’ll arrange it.

How the visit works

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job typically takes about two hours for a bath. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
