Bath resealing in Minions, done in place
A good reseal is all about preparation: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Then the fresh sealant goes on, as one neat, continuous bead. Whether it’s old sealant that looks dirty and leaks at the edges, we can typically put it right.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we will sort it.

When to call us in Minions
Most reseals are because of black mould. It grows into the silicone, so cleaning only removes the surface.
Customers generally contact us about:
- A messy previous reseal
- Stained silicone
- Gaps by the taps
- Sealant that is split or lifting
Before you book anyone
- Who turns up on the day
- What prep work is covered
- Whether they match the colour on site
- What aftercare is recommended
DIY kit or professional repair?
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.
A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.
How to care for the repair
How the surface is treated afterwards matters:
- Run the extractor fan during and after showers
- Wipe the joints dry after use
- Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
- Let steam out after showers
Good ventilation is the best protection, and dry the joints after bathing.
Black mould in sealant is not just unsightly; it shows moisture is getting in. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.
Why reseal now?
Compared with repairing water damage, resealing is cheap. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Minions. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

What we do, step by step
We turn up when we said we would and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. Most visits take around two hours, and we leave the room as we found it.
- First we strip out every bit of the old mastic.
- We clean the joint and treat any mould.
- We ensure the joint is completely dry.
- Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
- New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, including around the taps.
Preparing for the visit
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
- Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Advice
Minions questions
Do you hold any accreditations?
Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.
How do I get a price for bath resealing in Minions?
The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from pictures. You will get a fixed figure before booking.
Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?
Usually poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. Mould-resistant silicone and good ventilation help.
Will it make a mess?
We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.
What happens if you find more damage?
If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.
Can tenants book a repair?
We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just make sure the landlord agrees.
Why does the silicone keep cracking?
Movement is the usual cause. We fill the bath before sealing it.
Can you repair several things at once?
Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and we will quote them together.
For landlords and businesses
We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.
We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we’ll arrange it.
When a repair isn’t the answer
Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, for example:
- Very wide gaps that need a trim
- Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder
- Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.
Surfaces we repair
