Materials and what they mean for the repair

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

The process

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes about two hours for a bath. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Common problems we fix in Moss Edge

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the sealant itself, so cleaning cannot get it all out.

Send us a picture if you notice any of these:

  • Damp near the bath
  • Black mould in the sealant
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • Gaps by the taps

Resealing in Moss Edge: why it matters

Resealing is routine maintenance. Putting off a reseal lets water get behind the bath or tray, and that damage costs much more to fix. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Why Moss Edge clients choose us

  • A fixed quote before booking
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Typically one visit, start to finish
  • One price list for the whole UK

Take a look at our prices page.

What affects the price in Moss Edge

Prices are worked out job by job, from your photos. What matters most is:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How hard the colour is to match

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book, with no extras added later.

Send photos for a quote

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To make it quick:

  • A picture taken from further back
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • What it’s made of, if you know

Most clients in Moss Edge get their price from photos. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Looking after it afterwards

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off
  • Clean the joints with a mild cleaner
  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Let steam out after showers

Use the extractor fan, dry the joints after bathing, and clean them regularly with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. There may be more going on, and we will say if you need a builder or plumber.

Common questions in Moss Edge

Do you work in Moss Edge?

Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Moss Edge and the rest of Lancashire. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

What happens after I send pictures?

You will get a fixed quote back. You are under no obligation.

What information do you need?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the entire bath or shower and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

What happens if you find more damage?

Your quote covers the damage in the photos. If there’s more, we will tell you before starting.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

How long does silicone take to cure?

You will get the curing time from us.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

Can I fix it myself?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.
