Bath Resealing for Mottingham homes
Bath, shower and sink resealing with new mould-resistant silicone in Mottingham, carried out at your home and guaranteed for a year.
- A messy previous reseal
- Black spots in the silicone
- Discoloured, yellow sealant

How we handle bath resealing in Mottingham
The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. Fresh sealant does not stick to old, which is why many DIY jobs peel. If you’re dealing with black spots in the silicone and an untidy old seal, we can normally put it right, on basins & vanity units, shower trays & enclosures and wet rooms alike.
You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Mottingham as everywhere else we work.

Mottingham: your questions answered
When can I use the bath after resealing?
We’ll give you the curing time.
Which areas do you work in?
We cover the entire UK, including Mottingham and the rest of Greater London. Just include your postcode and we’ll confirm dates.
Do you charge for travel?
No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.
Is a repair better than a new one?
In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we will tell you.
Do you seal over the old sealant?
Never over old. It’s removed, cleaned off and the joint dried first.
Can pets and children be at home?
Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.
How do I book?
Just photos, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, we only need access to the room.
Do you cover Mottingham?
Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to Mottingham and the rest of Greater London. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Why it’s worth resealing in Mottingham
Compared with repairing water damage, resealing is cheap. It’s a quick job that protects your walls and floors. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before booking, with nothing added on the day.
Why choose Surface Doctor in Mottingham
- CHAS and Constructionline accredited
- Honest advice, even when it means no job

- Dust sheets down, tidy finish
Take a look at our prices page.
What bath resealing costs
There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:
- The material and finish
- How many areas need work
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
- Doing more than one item at once
What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.
Send pictures for a quote
Before you send pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:
- What it’s made of, if you know
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
- A picture taken from further back
- Natural light rather than flash
Send us pictures of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, and tell us you are in Mottingham, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.
Do you need bath resealing in Mottingham?
Most reseals are because of black mould. It grows into the silicone, so cleaning only removes the surface.
Most people contact us when they notice one of these:
- Silicone coming away from the tiles
- A messy previous reseal
- Discoloured, yellow sealant
- Gaps by the taps
Before you book anyone
- How the room is protected while they work
- Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
- What preparation is included
- A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
Repairs by material
Shower trays
We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.
Sinks and worktops
Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.
What a repair cannot fix
Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:
- Rotten walls or floors behind the bath
- A flexing bath
- Hollow or loose tiles
Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before booking.
Materials we repair
- Basins & vanity units
- Kitchen worktops & sinks
- Wet rooms
- Baths
- Shower trays & enclosures
Aftercare tips
How the surface is treated afterwards matters:
- Reseal at the first sign of lifting
- Dry the seal after bathing
- Store bottles on a shelf
- Air the room after use
Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, usually around 24 hours.
Do not wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

What happens on the day
We begin by going over the job with you. After that, protection goes down around the work area and we start. It normally takes a couple of hours.
- The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
- We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
- We clean, treat and dry the joint.
- We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
- The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Advice
Can I fix it myself?
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.
