Bath resealing near Newhills

About our bath resealing in Newhills

Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Failed sealant lets water get where it shouldn’t, and a new seal stops it. Our repair technicians work on kitchen worktops & sinks, baths and wet rooms, and common reasons people contact us are stained silicone and black spots in the silicone.

Every repair is covered by a one-year guarantee.

For landlords and businesses

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We’re CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Questions from Newhills

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Generally poor ventilation and moisture sitting on the joint. We use mould-resistant silicone, and ventilation helps it last.

What does bath resealing cost?

Every job gets a fixed quote based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up and a photo of the entire item and your postcode.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Nearly always. If photos do not show enough, we will ask for another angle.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted.

Do you cover the entire of Aberdeen?

Everywhere in the UK, Newhills included. Travel is included in the price.

When can I use the bath after resealing?

Normally about a day later. We will tell you the exact time.

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

Never over old. It’s removed, cleaned off and the joint dried first.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you will get one combined price.

What happens on the day

There’s not much you need to do on the day. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we’ll take it from there. The job generally runs to around two hours, tidy-up included.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. We treat mould and dry the joint thoroughly.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Advice

Aftercare tips

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Use the extractor fan
  • Keep the joints dry
  • Open a window after bathing
  • Keep bottles off the joints

Don’t scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and keep shampoo bottles off the joints.

Black mould in sealant is not just unsightly; it shows moisture is getting in. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

Prices and what affects them

Prices are worked out job by job, from your pictures. What matters most is:

  • The material and finish
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How many areas need work
  • The colour and finish to match

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Newhills. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your photos

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • One picture of the whole bath or shower

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them over with your postcode, and you will get a fixed price back. Quotes are free and you are under no obligation.

Honest limits

A repair isn’t right for every job, for example:

  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Water damage behind the bath that needs a builder

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Baths
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

Different materials, different repairs

Baths

Baths are resealed with water in them, to open the joint fully.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, so the joint is at its widest.

Why it’s worth resealing in Newhills

A professional reseal costs little compared with water damage. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Why Newhills clients choose us

When to call us in Newhills

No sealant lasts for ever. Every bath or shower adds moisture and soap residue, which mould feeds on, and the joint moves slightly every time the bath is filled.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Silicone smeared on tiles
  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Damp near the bath

  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • How soon you can use it again
