Bath resealing near North Fambridge

How we handle bath resealing in North Fambridge

Resealing is one of the simplest ways to protect your bathroom. Failed sealant lets water get where it shouldn’t, and resealing puts a stop to that. We’re frequently asked to fix damp near the bath and mould you can’t clean out, on shower trays & enclosures, basins & vanity units and wet rooms.

All our work is covered by a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Essex.

Prices and what affects them

There is no charge for travel to North Fambridge. The price depends on:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How many areas need work
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Quotes from your photos

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Where you are, by postcode

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath or shower, we can give you a fixed quote without visiting.

The process

Arrival times are agreed in advance. On site, it takes about two hours for a bath. We leave the room clean and you will know when it can be used.

  1. We protect the area and mask the joint lines.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. We smooth the bead, remove the tape and leave it to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

How to get a price

Related advice

North Fambridge: your questions answered

Is repairing better than replacing?

Typically, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

Normally because the bath or tray moves, or it was sealed with the bath empty. We fill the bath before sealing it.

Do you work in North Fambridge?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to North Fambridge for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Normally after around 24 hours. We’ll tell you the exact time.

How do I get a price for bath resealing in North Fambridge?

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you will get one combined price.

Is my repair covered?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Looking after it afterwards

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Use the extractor fan
  • Do not stand toiletries on the seal
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off

Keep the room well ventilated, and dry the joints after bathing to keep mould away.

Do not wait until water gets behind the bath. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
