Common questions in Parslow's Hillock

When can you do it?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

What areas do you cover?

All of Buckinghamshire, and the rest of the UK. Travel is included in the price.

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

How long does silicone take to cure?

We’ll give you the curing time.

Do you come to Parslow's Hillock?

We do. We send a technician to Parslow's Hillock for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

Why does mould come back so fast?

Damp is the cause. Run the fan, dry the joints and the new seal stays cleaner for longer.

Will you leave a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Will the price change on the day?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

Bath resealing in Parslow's Hillock without replacing anything

A reseal is a small job that makes a big difference. Clean, white joints make a bathroom look cared for, and they keep water out. Our technicians work on wet rooms, kitchen worktops & sinks and basins & vanity units, and the jobs we see most are gaps in the seal and mould you can’t clean out.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re covered after the visit.

Do you need bath resealing in Parslow's Hillock?

No sealant lasts for ever. Every bath or shower adds moisture and soap residue, which mould loves, and the joint flexes each time the bath fills.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • Damp near the bath
  • Missing sealant behind the taps

Questions to ask before you book

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, to open the joint fully.

Shower trays

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Why it’s worth resealing in Parslow's Hillock

Sealing over old silicone is a false economy. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before you book, with no extras added later.

When a repair is not the answer

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • A bath or tray that moves, until its support is fixed
  • Hollow or loose tiles

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Baths
  • Wet rooms

What happens on the day

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. Most jobs take about two hours for a bath, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We cut out and remove all of the old sealant.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We make sure the joint is completely dry.
  4. Baths are filled with water first, so the joint is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, including around the taps.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Prices and what affects them

Prices are worked out job by job. The main factors are:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The material and finish
  • How many areas need work

No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

How to get a fixed quote

Most quotes are done from pictures alone. To help us price it:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • One picture of the entire bath or shower
  • What it’s made of, if you know

Most clients in Parslow's Hillock get their price from photos. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Can I fix it myself?

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

Keeping it looking good

It’s all simple stuff:

  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Let steam out after showers

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, normally about a day.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. There may be more going on, and we’ll say if you need a builder or plumber.
