Materials and what they mean for the repair

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

Bath resealing in Pathhead without replacing anything

All of the old sealant is cut out, treat any mould, and apply fresh mould-resistant silicone. We reseal baths, showers, sinks and worktops, and that includes the awkward spots behind the taps. Our repair technicians work on baths, shower trays & enclosures and kitchen worktops & sinks, and common reasons people contact us are silicone coming away from the tiles and black mould in the sealant.

All our work comes with our one-year guarantee.

Aftercare tips

It’s all simple stuff:

  • Reseal when black spots will not clean off
  • Air the room after use
  • Give the seal a regular clean
  • Store bottles on a shelf

Leave the sealant to cure for the time we give you, normally about a day.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

Is resealing worth it?

Resealing is a small job. Putting off a reseal lets water get behind the bath or tray, and that damage costs much more to fix. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

What you get with us

  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

Honest limits

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Gaps so wide they need filling or trims before sealing
  • Movement in the bath or tray
  • Hidden water damage

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Common problems we fix in Pathhead

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the silicone, so cleaning can’t get it all out.

Keep an eye out for these signs:

  • Sealant that is split or lifting
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • Old sealant that looks dirty
  • A messy previous reseal

Our hiring checklist

For landlords and businesses

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

FAQs for Pathhead

Why does my sealant keep going mouldy?

Mould needs moisture. Ventilation and drying keep it clean longer.

Can you reseal over the old silicone?

No, we never seal over old silicone. The old sealant is cut out and the joint cleaned and dried.

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

The bath or tray is probably flexing. If it keeps happening, the support may need fixing.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Is there a call-out fee?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

When can you do it?

We will give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time that suits you.

How long before I can shower?

You’ll get the curing time from us.

How the visit works

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you’re not left guessing. Once we are there, the work takes a couple of hours. The room is left tidy and you’ll know when it can be used.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. We apply fresh mould-resistant silicone and tool a neat bead.
