Bath resealing for Penn Street homes

Prices and what affects them

There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Quotes from your photos

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • What it’s made of, if you know

Upload a photo of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, and tell us you are in Penn Street, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

Bath resealing in Penn Street, done in place

Baths are resealed with water in them, so the joint is at its widest, which stops the new seal tearing the first time the bath is used. Typical jobs include black spots in the silicone and gaps in the seal, in kitchen worktops & sinks, shower trays & enclosures and wet rooms.

Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee in Penn Street and across Buckinghamshire.

FAQs for Penn Street

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Can pets and children be at home?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that’s in the quote.

Can new silicone go over old?

All the old sealant comes out. New silicone will not bond to old.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

What happens if you find more damage?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, for example:

  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed
  • Hidden water damage
  • Very wide gaps that need a trim

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Buckinghamshire and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Why reseal now?

Putting new silicone over old doesn’t last. It peels within weeks, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

In time, even good sealant discolours, especially in a busy family bathroom. Steam, soap and movement all take their toll.

Choosing a repair company

Can I fix it myself?

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

What we do, step by step

We turn up when we said we would, introduces themselves and checks the damage against your pictures first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. The work itself takes a couple of hours, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

Before we arrive

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

How to get a price

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Advice

Looking after it afterwards

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting

Run the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

Damp below or loose tiles need checking quickly. It may be more than a reseal, so we will tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.
